DKF Marcello (Film Discussion Club) invite you to the show from the series of World Shorts, which presents short films from all over the world to the public. We will present a programme composed of the most interesting productions form Sweden.
PROGRAMME :
1.
The Girl
Dir. Fjona Jonuzi / 2011 / 15’
32-year old Hanna stops at a small shop on her way home; there, she meets her 20-year old acquaintance Andreas by coincidence. He invites her to a small party nearby. Having arrived to the place, Hanna realises that there are only five boys of Andreas’ age at the party. She is embarrassed initially, later, however, she gets used to the situation and feels like the boys’ peer.

Killing the Chickens to Scare the Monkeys

An exceptional story occurring in China, told from an unusual point of view, using a bold language in the film. 9 scenes happening in the grey zone between black and white shows unexpected consequences of politics onto the life of a young teacher. Precisely worked-out form and the provocative technique of narration lead the viewer to reflection – right at the first, fifteen-minute long scene, without any editing. A sincere and uncompromising film, full of emotion an political attitude.

Iván and Capitán
Dir. Frans Huhta Karlsson / 2011 / 15’ Cabo Polonio in Uruguay is a village on the Atlantic which seems to be abandoned. There is only one path and it is only the lighthouse which has electricity. There are only dunes around and waves washing the coastline. The area belongs to Iv?Ąn and Capit?Ąna, whose only company are stray cows and sea lions. However, everything will change when summer comes...

Dir. Kristoffer Borgli & The Golden Filter / 2011 / 11’
11-minute long film of a Norwegian director Kristoffer Borgli, the Grammy Award winner. It is a story of a girl who has mysterious abilities (acted by a Swedish model - Emma Aars), who feels at home only in her own magical world but this fact causes her rich parents’ anxiety. This unearthly history, full of surreal and horrifying moments goes on to the rhythm of electronic music of The Golden Filter Group.

Anyone for Tennis?
Dir. Monne Lindstrom / 2011 / 8’
A mother of three children tries hard to make the ends meet. One day a tennis player Rafael Nadal appears on her way. They have ice-cream together, spend their leisure time with each other, play tennis and, first of all, find they have much in common. This both absurd and dramatic animation tells us about their common summer – so magnificent that it seems impossible.

Birthday

Sara is preparing a surprise to her wife Katarina. Their common daughter Johanna helps her together with a male friend Frederik. But Katarina has something to tell to her. Sara, burdened with the organisation of a birthday party has additionally to cope with an unexpected news. Her joy gradually yields to the feelings of frustration and rejection...

Outside In
Dir. Tove Skeidsvoll, Petrus Sjövik / 2011 / 10’
Cecilia dances in a forest. She moves under the scrutinising eyes of a film team who direct her moves. When the camera collides with her own trajectory, Cecilia gets enough of that. She is not going to listen to domineering and over-fancied instructions. She will dance in her own way.
